Looks like they will be short of some starters
Worries for Bayern ahead of German cup
Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has several absentees ahead of Saturday's German League Cup final against Schalke in Leipzig.
Franck Ribery, who has impressed so far in pre-season following his move from Marseille, has been sidelined with a knee injury.
'Ribery misses out. It is nothing serious and he will be back in training on Sunday or Monday,' said Hitzfeld.
The Bayern coach will also be without suspended Mark van Bommel, while a question mark hangs over the fitness of Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is suffering from the flu illness which ruled Miroslav Klose out of Wednesday's semi-final win over Stuttgart.
Klose should be back in attack, though, while Jose Ernesto Sosa has also overcome a knock and can make his first competitive appearance for the Bavarians after missing their last two fixtures.
Which leaves Hitzfeld with several choices to make. The 19-year-old striker Sandro Wagner marked his debut with a goal in midweek and he may remain in the team alongside Klose due to Ribery's absence.
Sosa could then take the place of Schweinsteiger, with Oliver Kahn returning in goal after being rested three days ago.
Schalke come into the cup final with no such injury worries, and they are in confident mood.
'We can go out and show that we are competitive,' said coach Mirko Slomka, who is plotting to become the first side to beat the new-look Bayern line-up.
Rafinha and Marcelo Bordon both returned to training on Friday, leaving just Mathias Abel and Germany Under-19 star Mesut Ozil unavailable.
The League Cup is the first piece of silverware on offer in the German season. Bayern have won the tournament five times and Schalke once.
